UFC 269 is not only the final UFC PPV of 2021, but it may be the most entertaining as well. with two title fights and several high profile, ranked fights in the main and preliminary cards, this PPV is sure to be exciting from start to finish.
UFC 269 will hold the much anticipated title match between Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira and challenger Dustin Poirier. Poirier fresh off his back-to-back wins over Conor McGregor, winning their trilogy impressively. While Oliveira has maintained a 9-fight win streak capped off by his championship win over Michael Chandler, knocking out the "Iron Man" 15 seconds into the second round. The champion is a 3rd degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, and the best submission artist in UFC history, while the challenger is an accomplished NCAA wrestler and brawler, who has had 34 professional fights and has only lost to Khabib in the last 5 years. Both fighters have been respectful about the other fighter's abilities but have both claimed they will walk out of the arena with the belt after the fight.
In the co-main event of the evening, Amanda Nunes will return to defend her bantamweight championship against challenger Juliana Pena. The champion is riding a 12-fight win streak, 9 of those being title fights; a feet never before seen by a woman mix-martial artist. Her challenger has only a 1-fight win streak and has won 2 of her last 4 fights, but her impressive rear naked choke of Sara McMann was good enough to make her the newest challenger to Amanda Nunes' property at 135.
The Main Card will hold three more great fights, a Welterweight bout between #12 Geoff Neal and #14 Santiago Ponzinibbio, a Flyweight bout between #6 Kai Kara-France and the returning # 7 ranked bantamweight Cody Garbrandt and a Bantamweight bout between unranked fighters Raulian Paiva and Sean O'Malley.
The prelims also hold great fights, first the featherweight bout between #8 Josh Emmett and #9 Dan Ige that is sure to end in fireworks! The bantamweight GOAT and current #9 Dominick Cruz will fight Pedro Munhoz in a fight that both fighters need to win to maintain a solitified spot in the division's rankings. Lastly, the #11 Heavyweight Augusto Sakai will fight always fringe-15'er Tai Tuivasa in what is almost guaranteed to be a knockout finish.
We will also see fights from huge prospects like Middleweight's Jordan Wright and Andre Muniz, Woman's Flyweight Miranda Maverick, a featherweight battle between Ryan Hall and Derrick Minner and a flyweight bout between #4 Alex Perez and #9 Matt Schnell.
