The first Free Agent signing for thew Patriots, Harold Landry was brought in for $43.5 Million over 3 years to be one of the top pass rushers on the team. Brought in to immediately make a difference, Landry's time in Tennessee was very productive even if he has been on a negative trajectory.
His best season in 2021 registered 12 sacks, 14 TFLs and 22 QB Hits. Unfortunately for Landry, he would suffer a torn ACL the very next season but would bounce back well, tallying 20 sacks and 36 QB hits over the next two seasons.
Landry will turn 29 over the offseason and still has several, highly productive seasons ahead of him. Fitting into the Patriots defense, Landry will be the prominent edge threat across from Keion White at the 3-4 OLB position; the same position he had in Tennessee.
o what can we expect from Landry in New England?
Landry is an uber-athletic alpha male who will impact this defense more than just on the field. Landry will be an immediate leader in the locker room of a very young defense and at 29-years old, will also be the oldest and most experienced. A professional of 7 years, Landry was actually drafted by Mike Vrabel back in 2018 and had some of his best NFL season under the new Pats HC's tutelage.
It's no secret the Patriots were the biggest spenders of this year's Free Agency period and how most of that money went to defense including Landry. So let's take a more broad look at the new defense in New England:

This defense won't be Top-5 this year but behind this Coach and with the progression of it's young players along with the skill and mentorship of Free Agents brought in like Harold Landry, the days of the Patriots' dominant defenses may be coming back to town.
