Mike Vrabel has been hired as the new Head Coach for the New England Patriots. Vrabel has been a Free Agent HC since being fired after the 2023 season from the Tennessee Titans, where in 6 seasons he accumulated a 54-45 record with 3 playoff appearances.
Vrabel will be taking over one of the better jobs available this off-season, as the Patriots may be a bad team on paper but have one of the best Owners and young QBs in the game. Vrabel, (a defensive specialist) will be taking over an already credible Defense who ranked 7th against the Pass and 23rd against the Run.
No announcement yet on who the next Offensive Coordinator will be after former signal caller Alex Van Pelt was also let go after this season.
If Vrabel's time playing for the Patriots is at all indicative of how his coaching tenure will be, the Pats are in good hands. In Vrabel's 8 years at LB for the Patriots, he made an All-Pro team, 3 Pro Bowls and won 3 Super Bowls.
Vrabel was considered a Top-2 Free Agent HC heading into this off-season and the marriage was almost unstoppable in New England. Vrabel will need to do some rebuilding on the offense this season but don't be surprised if under him, the defense becomes a Top-10 unit next season and Drake Maye continues his progression as a Future Pro Bowler.
