Start 'Em
Quarterback
Jalen Hurts vs. CLE
Coming off a bye-week in week 5, Hurts and the Eagles have a prime opportunity against the struggling Cleveland Browns. With Receivers A.J Brown and Devonta Smith expected back this week (via a report by James Palmer), Hurts should be back to locking in QB1production against a Browns team that allows 24.2 points per game to opposing teams (9th worst in NFL).
Jayden Daniels vs. BAL
Daniels has been on a tear recently, producing another strong performance in week 5. He threw for 238 yards, added another 82 on the ground, and a touchdown. Baltimore's defense has been extremely vulnerable to high powered offenses, allowing 280.2 passing yards a game (2nd worst in NFL). Managers should expect Daniels to light it up against this struggling Ravens defense.
Kirk Cousins vs. CAR
Cousins officially broke out in his week 5 matchup against the Bucs, where he posted 509 passing yards along with 4 touchdowns and an interception. Cousins finally seems to be back to his old self physically, and has mentally meshed with the Falcons' offense. Fantasy managers should look for that to continue against the Panthers, who allow 226.6 passing yards per game to opponents (11th most in NFL).
Joe Burrow vs. NYG
Burrow also had a fantasy breakout in week 5, where he threw for 392 yards and threw 5 touchdowns and an interception. The Bengals are struggling in real life. However, Burrow's fantasy value has only gotten higher as the season has gone on, and he has a favorable matchup against the Giants who allow just over 200 passing yards a game (18th most in NFL).
Running Back
Tony Pollard vs. IND
Coming off a bye-week, Pollard has a huge opportunity to show off his fantasy value against an abysmal Colts' run defense. As the clear RB1 in Tennessee, look for Pollard to feast in week 6 against the Colts, who allow 157 rushing yards per game (2nd most in NFL)
Josh Jacobs vs. ARI
Jacobs was very solid last week against the Rams. He rushed for 73 yards and scored a touchdown, while also adding a catch for 21 yards. Jacobs is a workhorse in Green Bay's offense, even with quarterback Jordan Love back from injury. Look for the Packers to rely heavily again on Jacobs as they take on the Cardinals, who allow 147.8 rushing yards a game this season (5th most in NFL).
Chuba Hubbard vs. ATL
Hubbard has been a bright spot for the Panthers so far this season. Last week, he ran for 97 yards on 13 attempts and a touchdown, while also having 4 catches for -2 yards. He did fumble, but Hubbard has still been a focal point in the offense. Fantasy managers should start him with confidence against Atlanta, who ranks 4th worst in rushing yards allowed per game (148.4).
Najee Harris vs. LV
Harris had a quiet week 5 performance against the Cowboys on MNF, where he ran for just 42 yards on 14 attempts, and hauled in both of his targets for 35 yards. Volume as a runner has been far from Harris' problem this year, as he averages 16.4 rush attempts per game. Harris is against a banged-up Raiders defense who allow the 10th most rushing yards per game (1318). This could be Harris' breakout performance his managers have been waiting for.
Wide Receiver
D.J Moore vs. JAX
Moore was electric in week 5 for the Bears, hauling in 5 of his 8 targets for 105 yards, while also catching two touchdown passes. Moore's chemistry with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is growing each week, which is an extremely positive sign if you have Moore on your fantasy squad. Look for Moore to keep the momentum going against a Jaguars defense that allows the most passing yards a game to opponents in the league (287.8).
Jameson Williams vs. DAL
Coming off a bye in week 5, Williams has a prime matchup against Dallas this week. As the biggest deep threat in the Lions' offense, look for quarterback Jared Goff to take some shots to Williams against a Dallas defense that allows the 13th most yards per pass attempt in the league.
Tank Dell vs. NE
After another quiet day in week 5, Dell has yet to break out this season. He caught all 4 of his targets for 38 yards against the Bills. However, with Nico Collins officially on IR, Dell will instantly be put in a position for his volume to increase. As long as Collins is out, Dell's potential increase of usage in the offense is too enticing to ignore. He and the Texans go up against the Patriots this week, who allow the 8th most passing yards per game (239).
Darnell Mooney vs. CAR
Mooney has far exceeded expectations this season, as he has become one of quarterback Kirk Cousins' favorite targets. Last week, he caught 9 of his 16 targets for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Mooney can now be viewed as an established focal point in the offense, along with receiver Drake London and running back Bijan Robinson. Mooney's volume alone over the past three weeks (16 in week 5, 6 in week 4, and 8 in week 3) makes him a safe start against the Panthers, who allow the 11th most passing yards per game (226.6).
Tight End
Dallas Goedert vs. CLE
Coming off a bye-week, Goedert should be well rested and ready to go against Cleveland. As the TE3 overall this year, his production thus far this season makes his a must-start.
Cade Otton vs. NO
Otton has been a nice safety blanket for quarterback Baker Mayfield this season. Last week, Otton caught three of his four targets for 44 yards. The tight end play this year could not be much worse, however Otton's volume, especially in the redzone, is a positive sign. Start him against the Saints this weekend.
Trey McBride vs. GB
McBride had a solid week 5 performance against the 49ers, catching 5 of his 6 targets for 53 yards. McBride has been one of the only tight ends in football that is getting consistent volume (averaging 5 targets a game), making his value for the position at the top. Start him against a Packers defense that allows the 10th most passing yards a game (231.6).
Cole Kmet vs. JAX
Kmet, for a tight end's standards, was solid last week against the Panthers. He caught 3 of his 4 targets for 57 yards. Kmet has been involved in the offense to some extent, even though he has not been able to repeat his week 3 perofrmance (10 receptions for 97 yards and 1 TD). With that being said, he has a great opportunity against the worst passing defense in football in Jacksonville.
Sit 'Em
Quarterbacks
Josh Allen vs NYJ
Josh Allen had one of his worst career games last week and is banged up. Clearing concussion protocol was the least of his worries as he's dealing with chest and ankle problems leading up to a MNF showdown against the daunting Jets' defense.
C.J. Stroud vs NE
C.J. Stroud has had a solid season so far leading his team to 4-1 and against a 1-4 Patriots team it's pretty clear he should win this week but this is about fantasy football not real games. Stroud is facing perhaps the best defense he has seen this season and is doing so without his #1 option as Nico Collins was put on IR this week.
Baker Mayfield vs NO
Baker has been on a tear this year and especially the last two weeks, but with another divisional road game upcoming against a Saints defense that has given up the 4th fewest points to QBs this year, it'd be the first logical bench game for Mayfield. The Saints' defense is legit this year and to be honest Baker is due for an interception or two.
Kyler Murray vs GB
Kyler has only had one game over 210 yards passing this season and only 1 rushing TD. While Murray is one of the most explosive QBs in the league he's become very inconsistent, blowing up for 30 points one week then 13 and 9 points the next two. A matchup in Green Bay shouldn't do him any favors this week either.
Running Backs
James Cook vs NYJ
Another matchup nightmare as James Cook shas to face off against the dubious Jets defense while also dealing with a lingering foot injury. When healthy, Cook is averaging 1 TD per game but with circumstances the way they are this week, it's probably best for both fantasy owners and the team to sit Cook.
Travis Etienne Jr. vs CHI
We may be seeing a turning of the guard in Jacksonville as Tank Bigsby has rushed for 200 yards and 2 TDs in the past two weeks. While Etienne is still the RB1, it's clear the Jags are trying to get Bigsby more involved which is a sign for fantasy owners to look for other solutions besides Etienne Jr.
Rachaad White vs NO
Another case of team splitting carries, White only has 1 more carry over the past two weeks than RB2 Bucky Irving. The bulk of White's yards have come on big runs as well meaning his pay-to-play ability to pick up 5 yards is dwindling. With an apparent foot injury bothering him as well, best bet is to play Irving and bench White this week.
Wide Receivers
Rashid Shaheed vs TB
One of the biggest beneficiaries from the Saints' hot start this season, Shaheed has actually kept up his pace all year with 4 games over 80 yards and 3 TDs on the year. However a matchup against the Buccaneers who besides last week have a strong secondary may slow Shaheed significantly. Also, it looks like Derek Carr is significantly degressing throughout the last 3 weeks which should scare Shaheed-owners.
Ladd McConkey vs DEN
A strong showing for his first four weeks in the league, McConkey is the feature WR going into Denver this week against a very talented Pat Surtain II. McConkey has been able to showcase his diverse route tree which would help this matchup but let's just say the rookie will likely have a bad day at the office and move on from this one.
Brian Thomas Jr. vs CHI
Perhaps the best deep threat in the league currently, Thomas Jr. has been electric this year but is somewhat depending on that home run hit. All three of his TDs this season have come on 40+ yard plays and that isn't something fantasy owners should rely on week-in and week-out.
D.K. Metcalf vs SF
Metcalf has had a great start to the season as the clear #1 option for the Seahawks who lead the league in passing. After a subpar-55 yard performance last week, Metcalf has to go against the 49ers defense this week who he has always struggled against. Metcalf hasn't surpassed 100 yards in his last 7 games against them and has only scored 2 TDs in that span too.
Tight Ends
Pat Freiermuth vs LV
Freiermuth had another TD this week for the second-game in a row which was good to see, however making his claim as a TD-dependent player more real. Freiermuth is a great TE but his teams' QB situation limits him significantly, mainly in the fact he's only seen 23 targets in 5 games. If the Steelers can figure out a better strategy to throw the ball down the stretch Pat will become a must-start TE, for now he'll ride the pine though.
Kyle Pitts vs CAR
Pitts had a good showing last week thanks to Kirk Cousins' best performance of his career. One good game does not a fantasy starter make however, knowing that Pitts is one of the most inconsistent players of the year. Carolinas' defense has been bad against TEs this year but we're waiting to see if Pitts can be a threat week-to-week before he leaves this list.
Mark Andrews vs WAS
Last week Andrews had 4 catches for 55 yards, posting season-highs for both stats. After 0 receptions over the previous two weeks it was good to see Andrews getting a bit more involved but it's still not enough. A strong showing or at least one TD on the year will be needed before Andrews can even be mentioned near fantasy starting lineups.
Jake Ferguson vs DET
Dallas has only given up 1 TD all year to TDs and Ferguson hasn't been much of a red zone threat this year anyway. Ferguson has had a few extra targets a week since Brandin Cooks has been sidelined but with the Cowboys clearly force-feeding Ceedee Lamb, look for Ferguson to continue a pattern of around 6 catches for 50 yards and no touchdowns.
